Who We Are
Nilotika Cultural Ensemble is a non-tribal, non-racial, non-political, non-religion talented unit of young energetic youths from local and indigenous communities .We all share the same passion and drive to showcase culture at it`s finest in whatever possible way. We are a spiritual driven force majoring in music, performing arts, visual arts, folks, fashion, tailoring, poetry etc. Versatility ranges in our organization i.e. we use traditional musical instruments and fusion with other western musical instruments, (about 10+ different drum types), steel pans, local trumpets, stringed bows, local harps (Adungu). All the above fused with state of the Music equipments like baselines, mixers, samplers, MIDIS, amplifiers and recordings, we bring the indigenous sound to nature in the modern era. And whatever we choose to do, we give it our definite best.
We perform folk songs / Dances to edutain the masses and a reminder not to forget thy roots upon which we blossom through music, storytelling, live traditional instrumental performances, poetry. We deeply believe “originality influences character. We have variety of activities that are talent and skill based bound to influence the inevitable shift of spirituality. And that`s surely mental and music therapy. Since we vary in performing arts, we choose to embrace any talent or skill spearheaded activity that`s why we are an open community, we teamwork on any raw talent to match its potential.
Our exhibitions often facilitate a wealthy number of performers like musicians, fashion designers, Martial Arts, (Fitness & wellness) dancers, rappers, beatboxers, drama actors, poets, opera (traditional), artists (paint and brush artists, graffiti artists and body artists). We have children`s exhibition platform that focuses on children`s raw talents prior to mentorship in art of any sort.(Nilotika Bujje). We are blessed with a tremendous pact of young ones that can sweep anyone off their feet (dolphins inclusive).
We have a tendency of getting communities together (community outreach) with our “street attacks” exhibitions where we boast self-esteem into fellow community members with our jaw dropping performances randomly because we believe that a reasonable amount of talent is left unutilized due to lack of confidence & exposure, we make sure people understand the difference between uniqueness and abnormality and indeed we do have testimonies of this. So many people sit on their talents resulting into talent insufficiency which is such a big pity because The Almighty showered us with plenty of talents and gifts to explore.
